英語で「なんだかんだ忙しい」はなんと言う？

いつの間にやら11月も後半で。

年の瀬がせまってくると特に何がというわけでもないのに、忙しいというか慌ただしいですね。

具体的に何がというわけでもないけど「なんだかんだ忙しい」という時は英語でなんていうんでしょうね。

英語で「あれやこれや」は「this and that」

わりと最初に習う単語で説明できちゃう「あれこれ」。

英語では、

• this and that

と言います

これで「あれこれ、いろんなこと」という意味で使えちゃうんです。

英語で「なんやかんや」は「something or other」

英語の「something or other」も「なんだかんだ、何やかや」という意味で使えます。

英英辞典の説明には

something whose exact nature you do not know or have forgotten

とあったので、正確なとこがわからないもしくは忘れた何かという意味で使うようです。

something or other（なんやかんや）を使った例文

• He is doing something or other.
  （彼は何やらやっている。）
• She is always complaining about something or other.
  （彼女はいつも何かしら不平ばかり言っている。）
• I am busy with something or other.
  （なんやかんや忙しい。）

英語で「なんだかんだ」は「one thing or another」

英語フレーズ「one thing or another」も「なんだかんだ、あれやこれや」といった意味。

「one thing and another」も同じ意味のようです。

この場合は「or」でも「and」でもどちらでもいいのかな。

英英辞典では「what with one thing and another」の説明は

used to explain that you have had a lot of work, problems, or jobs that you had to do

とありました。

色々といっぱいやることがあるということを説明するときに使うということですね。

英語で「あれこれと」は「in one way or another」

似たような言葉で「in one way or another」が出てきたのですが、これは「あれこれと、どうにかして、なんとかして」という意味で使われる。

「way」が使われてるから、1つかあるいは別の方法でというニュアンスになるので、様々な方法でなんとかしてという感じなんですね。

これも「or」のかわりに「and」が使われることもある。

• I will finish this, one way or another !
  （なんとかしてこれを終わらせる。）
• You have to finish it today one way or another.
  （なんとしてでも今日中に終わらせてくれ。）
